What is HISAN?

HISAN (Handicap Initiative Support And Network) registered in California, USA, with a Sub-office in Korea, is a non-profit, non-governmental International Christian Organization.

HISAN was registered in Somalia under the Ministry of Education, Women’s Department in 1989. The Eastern Africa Regional Office registered in Kenya in 1994 and in Djibouti in 2014 to take care of Kenya and Somalia activities.



We are committed to seeing all the people with disabilities and the vulnerable in the society celebrate their diversity and find their identity in God as He created them.



To facilitate the creation of an enabling environment that prevents further disabilities, provide an adapted environment that empowers persons with disabilities and the vulnerable manage their lives independently in their own surroundings.



To enable people with special needs live with integrity, be acceptable, become economically viable and independent members in their community.



HISAN objectives are to enable people with special needs to:

  • To appreciate their own identity
  • To manage their own affairs independently
  • To become economically self-reliant
  • To advocate and facilitate public awareness on the needs of the people with special needs.



HISAN Eastern Africa Regional office in Nairobi, Kenya and Djibouti serves as the administrative office for both Kenya and Somalia.
